 This is my first time writing a research proposal. When we first began this project, I felt very lost and confused as to where to start. I did not realize that there were so many subsections to crafting this proposal. I had never written things like a sampling, methods, or data collection section before. This class has introduced me to skills that I had not yet acquired. I now have a better grasp on how to plan and prepare research. Following this assignment, I feel far more prepared to complete my capstone project.

    I also felt lost and confused, but one of the best ways that I learn is through experience and trial and error. It makes things more difficult, but I feel like it's more effective in the long run. I somewhat liked the challenge of synthesizing all of those subsections, and while it was hard, I think everything I learned was very beneficial.

 I believe for my topic I will be looking into the legal writing of Roe v. Wade from a postmodern standpoint. My goal within this research is to better understand the original implications of the Supreme Court documents. Roe v. Wade is one of the most controversial cases of modern times.       Although my major is Professional and Technical Writing, it is not my career plan. I am planning to attend law school in the fall of 2027. I chose this major because I believed that it would help me prepare to write legal documents, grants, and proposals. I understand that my talents as a writer are likely to give me advantages throughout my career as an attorney. With this in mind, I would like my topic for this class to surround legal documents in some capacity. I think I will begin by diving into the writing of case briefs as a way to introduce myself to the language. I am not positive that this will lead me directly to my topic, but I believe that it will give me a great starting point. Once I have given some time to briefs, I plan to look into the writing of motions, petitions, & NDA's. My plan is to look at multiple formats of legal language until I find the one that interests me the most.

   For my research proposal, I will likely be focusing on a gap in implication. My literary review discussed the relationship between rhetoric and legal writing. I focused specifically on the case of Roe v. Wade.  I want to direct my research on the role that rhetorical techniques can have in law making. I feel that the connection between rhetoric and legal writing is missing a logical connection. My goal in focusing on gap in implication is to bridge a connection between the two elements. I intend to look into other cases where  rhetoric has helped legal writers cement their ideas into law.
